ARTS Downtown GTX is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to connecting, collaborating, creating, and fostering commerce within the arts community in Galveston’s Historic Downtown Cultural Arts District from 19th Street to 27th Street and from Broadway to the Bay. Our goal is to see Galveston recognized as one of the top 10 destinations for arts and culture in the U.S.

 

You’ve watched Galveston transform over the years. You’ve seen the challenges, and you’ve seen the potential.

In the past 18 months, we’ve made tremendous progress. We launched ART Week Galveston, already primed to become a signature island event that boosts the local economy during January. We’ve built strong cultural partnerships across the community, we have helped create the Old quarter Singer Songwriter Festival, created a Free Little Art Gallery that draws attention from both locals and visitors, and supported our artist community with professional development opportunities.

Together, these efforts are laying the foundation for long-term growth and impact.
And all of this has happened with volunteers alone.

We’re raising $200,000 through our Leadership Launch Campaign to hire our first Executive Director and Marketing Coordinator, the infrastructure needed to transform grassroots momentum into lasting economic impact.

This isn’t just about the arts. It’s about the Galveston we want to leave for the next generation a city where young families stay, where downtown businesses thrive, and where visitors come not just for the beach, but for the culture we’ve built together.

The Texas Cultural Trust reports that arts districts generate $7.3 billion annually statewide. Galveston is perfectly positioned to capture our share, we just need the professional capacity to seize this moment.
